Factors related to COVID-19 anxiety

Abstract

|
Objective: This study has attempted to examine factors associated with COVID-19 anxiety in the COVID-19 pandemic by using nationwide representative data.
Methods: Human biology, Healthcare Organization, Environment, Lifestyle factors were included in this analysis as independent variables based on Lalonde Health Field Model. Descriptive analyses and multiple linear regression analyses were performed to provide this association considering complex sample design effects.
Results: Rest during the onset of COVID-19 symptoms, smoking status, heavy drinking status, sex, age, marital status, household Income, education level, moderate or higher physical activity, unmet healthcare needs, were significantly associated with COVID-19 anxiety.
Conclusions: Health related behaviors were associated with COVID-19 anxiety. In addition, people with socioeconomic vulnerabilities were even more vulnerable due to side effects of the COVID-19, resulting in more anxiety. Therefore, this study suggests political support such as social protection programs to protect and promote the health of the public, that can guarantee household income to satisfy basic needs and maintain livelihood of those under the COVID-19.
